Cupcake day

“Devyn what's your money goal” Mum asked 

“Ummm $100 probably” I responded

If your wondering why my mum asked that it is because I am selling cupcakes to my class to raise money for the Manawatu SPCA

Cupcake Day, I wonder what will happen?, I wonder what it will be like?, I wonder how much money I will fundraise? My head is FULL of questions and wonders And it's all because of Cupcake Day and I'M THE PERSON RUNNING IT!!

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours and hours turned into, LOTS OF TIME

And then all of a sudden it was Cupcake Day I was sitting in class setting up the Cupcakes To sell to COLLAB. 

“MUM I FINALLY!!! COUNTED UP ALL OF THE MONEY WE GOT … $150”

Nana & Grandad

“Dev your Dad’s here” Georgia my classmate said. I excitedly went and snatched my bag off bag hook No.2 and ran to my Dad. Next minute we were in the car and on our way to the Airport✈️ to see my nana and grandad fly down from Scotland.

 I flew inside of the BIG building like a seagull . Then two amazing people walked out of the orange Airplane! I have been visioning this in my head for week. Months even.

“Oh Dev, I thought you would be at school” Nana said astonished.
“She wanted to see u arrive” Dad said loudly. “Let’s go get your bags now.”
It seemed to take FOREVER to find nana ad Grandad's bags
No...No...No...Yes! there is one of our bags and there's another one”Grandad said excitedly.

“We're home” I said calmly  I rushed into the house starving but then I froze in shock as I heard the words “Devyn go tidy your room”
So I turned around slowly and walked into that terribly messy room and opened

Green Pastures Camp : Kayaking

 The horn blew
I was off like a rocket 
Everything was going so fast,I  didn't care though because we got to go kayaking.
As we ran down the hill I spotted the kayaks, a blur of color against the green grass.
My heart beat faster as we dived for the life jackets and I clipped mine on ready to go.
I turned around and noticed a red paddle board sitting nearby in the glistening sun. A master peace. I pounced on it before any one else could grab it and dragged it down the slippery muddy slope into the water. SPLISH SPLASH I was off.

As I stood up on the slippery board I heard people behind me yelling "Go Go you can do it". I felt the warmth of the sun on my face and the wind in my hair as a big smile spread across my face. I was free!!! As my paddle sliced through the water the people on the bank grew smaller. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the peace and quiet. In my head the song was playing "This is gonna be the BEST DAY of my life".


Just as I was relaxing into the song BUMP I was knocked of my perch. As I fell into the cold water of the lake I noticed a kayak had bumped into me. "Oops" said Thimansa and we laughed. Happily I slid back onto the paddle board and I was away again.
